Introduction

High Availability is the ability to define, with a certain confidence, that an IT system will remain operational within a defined service level agreement for a defined period of time.

Traditionally, high availability at the five 9's end of the scale has historically been ensured through large scale equipment and application replication. This leads to a lot of redundancy and under utilization of expensive infrastructure, and also increases the associated operational management overheads.

Enigmatec is a pioneer in the space of high availability management and business continuity. Leveraging expertize gained in the virtual management space, Enigmatec's high availability solution focuses on rapidly and automatically reallocating existing resources to support "at risk" services. This approach eliminates the need for these expensive, under-utilized standby systems.

Built upon numerous customer implementations, Enigmatec Automated Disaster Recovery (ADR) brings together a collective expertise on making systems highly available and more easily recoverable. ADR is designed to work with the processes and management tools you have today, with little or no reconfiguration of existing systems.

ADR brings a unique model based approach for high availability by monitoring the KPI's of a defined service or application and then measuring performance against agreed Service Level Objectives (SLO's).

In the event of service degradation and hopefully before SLO's are breached ADR can attempt to remediate the problem, for example, by dynamically provisioning and configuring additional resources to ensure the availability of the service.

Once the service is performing normally again, the additional resources can be returned to a resource pool where they can be utilized by another application if required.
